Episode Transcript

Welcome to The Pop-Up Pod: a show where each sporadically released 12-episode season explores one big and juicy question. Our question for season 2 is this: how much money is enough? I’m your host, Nicole Antoinette—self-employed, partnered but not married, child-free by choice, and I’ve had a somewhat rollercoaster history of experiencing up and down class changes throughout my entire life. My parents filed for bankruptcy when I was 14 years old, and I’ve been obsessed with personal finance ever since. And so this question we’ll be exploring together over the next 12 episodes—how much money is enough?—is a question that I think about all the time. My guests and I will go deep into conversations about how money impacts our lives and relationships. We’ll talk about debt, overcoming under-earning, anti-capitalism, taking care of both our current and our future selves, how to determine our financial goals, experiencing class mobility, as well as the emotional side of it all, the times when our financial decisions and circumstances make us feel resentful, scared, joyful, proud, guilty, ashamed, grateful, and more—with the hope that these honest conversations will makes us all feel much less alone. If you want to come along on this behind-the-scenes deep dive into other people’s lives and money, go ahead and subscribe to the show right now, wherever you’re listening to this. Season 2 starts in just a few weeks, and I can’t wait to see you there.
